With a one-timer on the feed from Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby recorded his 500th NHL goal on a Penguins power-play to give Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead late in the first period vs the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 15, 2022. Notably, this was also Crosby's 50th goal against the Flyers, his most against any team at the time. Sidney Crosby joined Alex Ovechkin as the only active player to score 500 goals. The Penguins claimed victory with a 5-4 win over the Flyers after Kris Letang scored an overtime goal just 31 seconds into play.
Sidney Crosby became just the 46th NHL player to score 500 goals, and the first since Patrick Marleau with the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 2, 2017. Crosby, who has scored 24 goals so far this 2022-23 season, is the second player to score 500 for Pittsburgh, joining Mario Lemieux (690).
