Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget

Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget

Danielle McGlenister |

As Canadians we often take for granted the privilege we have of waking up each and every day without the threat of having our rights and freedoms taken away.

This is all thanks to the heroes who served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict, and peace. The first Remembrance Day was observed on November 11, 1931, and every year since then, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour, reflect and remember. Canadian Veterans made countless sacrifices so that we could live as we do today, and by remembering, we pay tribute to the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP who fought so gallantly to defend our country’s values and freedoms, and to assist in protecting those values on a global scale.

Thank you to those who served and continue to serve. We are continuously inspired by your dedication and commitment to protecting our country. We ask our loyal customers to join us today by setting aside time to observe a moment of silence at 11:00 am.

Initiatives you can take to honour and remember Canada’s fallen Veterans and to help ensure Canadians never forget:

  • Wear a Poppy
  • Say “Thank you” to a Veteran
  • Participate in the Act of Remembrance
  • Donate to the Legion’s Poppy Trust Fund at any local Legion Branch
  • Volunteer at a local Legion
