FW Exclusive Alek Manoah strikes out 7 in win over Red Sox

Danielle McGlenister |

Manoah closed his outing on Saturday night with a fiery flourish in a Blue Jays’ 4-1 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. He allowed only one run, walked none, struck out seven and lowered his ERA to 2.24.

The MLB All-Star was at his nasty best in the sixth and final inning of his outing, striking out the final three batters he faced. Manoah joined Juan Guzman as the only pitchers in Blue Jays history to win at least 20 of their first 40 career starts.

The Jays have won five in a row and are now 6-1 under Schneider as they charge forward into playoff-race mode.
