Sidney Crosby Signed #28 World Juniors Team Canada Jersey
Sidney Crosby could not have imagined a better way to celebrate his 15th birthday.
Just three days after the teenage phenomenon turned 15 in August 2002, he spent 10 days with Canadian junior team hopefuls at their summer evaluation camp in Halifax. Originally, Crosby wasn’t invited to try out for the team of players 17, 18, and 19 years old, but since the camp was at the Halifax Metro Centre and he lived across the harbour in the Dartmouth suburb of Cole Harbour, he asked Hockey Canada whether he could come help out. Hockey Canada did not stand in the way of the future Canadian junior team member and granted Crosby his birthday wish.
The following year at just sixteen years old, Sidney Crosby was the youngest player to participate in the 2003 U-18 World Juniors Cup hosted in the Czech Republic and Slovakia from August 11-16. Only four other 16-year-olds (Jay Bouwmeester, Jason Spezza, Eric Lindros, and Wayne Gretzky) have played for the Canadian junior team in over 30 years. In addition, this tournament marked the first time Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin appeared in the same international competition. Crosby, who played for Team Canada was in Group A in Breclav, CZE, while Malkin, in Group B, played for Team Russia in Piestany, SVK. Notably, Crosby and Malkin did not play a game against each other. Canada lost the bronze final to the Czech Republic 2-8 and consequently placed 4th, while Russia took silver in a 2-3 loss to USA. Both medal games were played in Breclav, CZE.
This Sidney Crosby Signed #28 IIHF Team Canada Nike Replica Jersey comes with a Frameworth Sports Marketing Hologram and Letter of Authenticity to ensure the legitimacy of the signature.
