Plak Depot, a division of Frameworth Sports Marketing, is Canada's leading manufacturer of plaque-mounted products, the modern alternative to framing. Pioneered in Canada during the late 1970's, the plaque mounting process is permanent and durable.
First your poster, print, photo, or artwork is dry mounted to fibreboard that is cut to size. A thin matte or glossy plastic laminate sheet is then applied to the surface and heat sealed. The edges of the plaques are bevelled and treated with one of the many colours available. Finally, the plaque is routed on the back, ready to be hung.
In addition to the traditional plaque mounting method, float mount and flush mount plaques are also available. The float mounted plaque is mounted on a thinner board and the finished plaque is adhered on the back to a smaller wood frame. This gives the plaque the appearance of 'floating' on the wall. The flush mounted plaque is also mounted on thinner board, but it is secured to a deeper wooden frame that stands out from the wall for a greater three-dimensional effect.
